About Amy Lyn

Creative thinker. Communications strategist. The person who sees how the pieces fit.

I’ve worked across marketing, public relations, brand, design and business strategy, helping organizations turn complicated ideas and scattered activity into something clear, cohesive and useful.

How I work

I’m not interested in making marketing prettier if it still doesn’t make sense.

This started early. I edited my high school newspaper in 1993, and I’ve been shaping messages ever since. I founded Creative Types in 2000 after building my career in public relations and communications. Over the years, the work expanded naturally into brand strategy, creative direction, websites, content, campaigns, design systems and the practical business decisions that connect all of it.

That breadth is the point. I’m comfortable moving between a leadership conversation and the actual work that has to get done. I can help define the message, challenge the brief, shape the customer experience, review what a vendor produces or step into execution when that’s what moves the work forward.

I’ve worked across health care, financial services, arts and culture, public-sector organizations, nonprofits, professional services and consumer brands.

Earlier in my career, I served as public relations coordinator for Jacksonville’s Museum of Science & History. I later served as president of PRSA’s North Florida chapter and have received professional recognition for public relations work and service to the profession.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations from the University of North Florida. I’m based in Jacksonville, close enough to the beach that it’s part of everyday life. I believe business is personal. There’s more to life than work, but when someone trusts me with something they’ve built, I take that seriously. For an entrepreneur, it may be their livelihood. For an organization, the work may affect patients, families, customers or an entire community. I want to understand why the work matters. If it matters to you, I care about getting it right.

What you can expect

01

Clarity before activity

We get clear on the objective, audience and message before we make anything new.

02

Strategy that survives contact with reality

The plan has to work with your people, budget, vendors, deadlines and actual business.

03

Creative judgment

Good work should be distinctive, coherent and right for the audience, not creative for creativity’s sake.

04

Forward motion

I’m not here to generate decks that sit on a server. Decisions should turn into action.

Let’s talk

Have something complicated?

That’s usually where I’m most useful.
